The History of C3 Corporation

Founded in 1994 by Joe Van De Hey, Control Concepts Corporation was created to provide manufacturers and OEMs with an innovative approach to systems integration. As the company advanced, it expanded its offerings to include information systems, mechanical engineering, and the design & build of custom machines.

Today, C3 Corporation specializes in providing complete automation solutions for leading manufacturers and OEMs throughout North America. Since building and relocating to the new C3 Technology Center in 2005, manufacturing customers in a diverse array of industries have learned to trust C3 to use ingenuity and innovation to improve their manufacturing processes

C3 Ingenuity and Innovation Timeline

  • 1970 - Joe finds rebuilding and innovation is in his blood
  • 1977 - Joe and Marv become fast friends at Wrightstown High School
  • 1981 - Joe obtains a flavor for pulp and paper industry by working third hand on #9 coater at Appleton Papers
  • 1984 - Joe Van De Hey graduates from DeVry University with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • 1985 - Appleton Papers gives Joe a start as an engineer in the paper industry
  • 1986 - Marv Wall graduates from Lakeland College
  • 1987 - A shift to Valmet moves Joe to the finishing side of the business
  • 1991 - Joe forms J&M Controls to provide integration in the pulp and paper industry
  • 1992 - Rounding out his knowledge base, Joe takes a position with Siemens as an Application Engineer
  • 1994 - Control Concepts Corporation is founded to provide systems Integration to the paper industry
  • 1996 - Marv joins Joe at Control Concepts Corporation
  • 1998 - Initial development of PlantQue™, an integrated software system for manufacturing machine data collection and analysis
  • 2000 - PlantQue is featured in Marketplace Magazine-article discusses software to turn plant floor information into knowledge
  • 2002 - Expanded Control Concepts Corporation operations to offer Turnkey Machine Design and Build
  • 2004 - Name changes to C3 Corporation to reflect full suite of services provided
  • 2004 - C3 ingenuity.com website launches
  • 2005 - C3 breaks ground and moved into new C3 Technology Center facility
  • 2005 - C3 is named Manufacturer of the Year
  • 2007 - Establish new division of C3 Corporation – CSolutions
  • 2008 - CleanCompliance Systems, a patented verification system is developed
  • 2009 - C3 develops a customized PDP - Pick & Place Application
  • 2010 - C3 develops revolutionary new Convoluting line for the foam industry
  • 2011 - C3 ingenuity.com website is relaunched using the latest dynamic web technologies to better serve and interact with customers across industry lines
